TEXT is a journal with a broad range of content, including everything from essays to reviews to creative writing.

The first concrete ideas for a publication for the English Department at the University of Malta reach back to 2007. It was felt that students needed a place to write and be read (other than by lecturers). The initial plans for having a printed publication met a dead end due to insufficient funding, and it was decided to move the project online, also because online journals are numerous and attract a larger readership. The 1st issue of TEXT was published in late August 2009 and was greeted with positive comments and enthusiasm.

Almost three years after the conception of TEXT as an idea the results are visible here – March 2010 saw the publication of the 2nd issue on a brand new website. The range of content was expanded to five sections to accommodate a wider variety of submissions. Focusing on the humanities, TEXT’s aim now is to publish writing of an academic and/or creative bent produced by students of the university. Articles are now available to worldwide review through the comment and rating system.
